Why a range and not one number?

Because two people of the same height can have very different frames - one with heavier bones and more muscle, one lighter. So a healthy weight is always a range. Anywhere inside it is fine.

Where does this range come from?

It comes from the weight range that puts you at a BMI of 18.5 to 22.9, which is the healthy band used for Indians. Most of the world allows up to 25, but in South Asians the risk of diabetes and heart disease begins at a lower weight. The older Devine and Hamwi figures are shown alongside so you can compare.

Above the range - should you worry?

No. This is a frame based calculation and it takes no account of muscle. Plenty of people who train regularly sit above this range and are in very good shape. For the real picture, check your body fat percentage instead.
